Monte Cristo Mind Map

Explanation: In this mind map, I have different colors representing who is good or bad. The purple represents all the people who were good and were loyal in Dantes life. The red means the bad people who have had a part putting him in jail. Now the black represents a change in the character. For example I put “Monte Cristo” as black because that is his new character after emerging from the water which represents like a baptism, but in a reversed way. Anyway so yeah black represents a change in the character, if that makes any sense. The plain ones are just either neutral or a character because some white clouds are just other disguises of Dantes. Also another thing you may have realized I separated the good people and then grouped everyone by family. The lightning bolts represent Dantes, revenge on the people. Now, I know I didn’t put it over everyone who done wrong to him, but mainly the Danglars for being mostly behind it.

Characters

Group 1 

Edmond Dantes- The man who was one innocent and loving, but is changed when framed by others. Sinbad the Sailor- one of the many false identities of Dantes

Abbe Busoni- another identity

The Count of Monte Cristo- One of the main false characters of Dantes, but this one is quite important because he makes this one more of the permanent identities.

Group 2  (black)(red)

Mercedes- Dantes fiancé at one time, but then after having her lover taken she marries Fernand Mondego. She is kind of a confusing character because she always has loved Dantes, but why remarry the person who was responsible for this scandal?

Fernand Mondego- One of the main people responsible for putting Dantes in jail. He “steals” Dantes true love.

Albert de Morcerf- Son of Fernand and Mercedes. He helps the Count in some ways and has an impact on Dantes life.

Group 3 (purple)

Haydee- A slave saved by Monte Cristo and they eventually fall in love.

Louis Dantes- Dantes father. His father dies early in the book due to Dantes being in prison. Also a reason why Dantes wants revenge on those who put him in jail.

Abbe Faria- Becomes like a father to Dantes while in jail, even if its for a short time.

Group 4 (red)

Baron Danglars- One of the people who is responsible for putting Dantes in jail. They have been jealous of him due to his success. They later become wealthy, but that changes due to Dantes “revenge.”

Madame Danglars- wife of Baron Danglars. In the book she has other affairs and it effects their marriage.

Eugene Danglars- Daughter of Danglars. She is thought to be a lesbian due to her running away with her music teacher, but maybe she could be a feminist. (maybe)

Group 5 (red) (white)

Gerard de Villefort- Also is behind for putting Dantes in jail or should I say keeping him in jail. He is a two-faced character it seems.

Madame Villefort- Wife of Gerard de Villefort. She has kind of a protective aspect to her when it comes to her son.

Noirtier- Father of Gerard Villefort. Villefort protects his father due to a secret that supposedly betrays the government or something of the country.

Valentine Villefort- daughter of both Gerard and Madame Villefort. She is quite different from the rest of the Danglars and she is actually good and is protected by Dantes.
